L’Avant Comptoir Wine Bar

Foie Gras

The Spanish may have tapas, but Chef Yves Camdeborde brought back the idea of the French hors d’oeuvre bar in the 6th arr. adjacent to his wildly popular Le Comptoir bistro.

Standing room only, LAC is a destination in its own right where foodies squeeze in elbow-to-elbow around the zinc bar to nibble on the communal jars of pickles, baskets of crusty Thierry Breton bread and Bordier farm butter – while they choose from the hors d’oeuvres choices printed on photo cards hanging overhead.

Don’t miss the foie gras and piquillo pepper skewers, Ibaiona ham croquettes, cured ham-artichoke cream on waffles and the panko-crusted fried chicken. For those who seek out offal – sautéed duck hearts, grilled blood sausage, ox tail sandwich and pigs feet will not disappoint.

Eric or Thomas is your sommelier in charge of pouring natural wines by the glass or bottle.

Freshly made crepes can be ordered “to-go” from the outside window and enjoyed while walking at the nearby Luxembourg Gardens.

Prices range from 4-8€ per hors d’oeuvres and wines by the glass 3 – 5€, bottles & magnums available
